Environmental Impact

Brooklyn House has been designed and contructed to offer lower running costs when compared with traditional methods of construction. Superior air tightness, enhanced thermal and sound insulation combine to ensure a home that will be a warm, comfortable and draught free environment in which to live.

Brooklyn House is constructed using ICF Technology. Insulated Concrete Formwork is not only an ecologically sustainable method of construction but also offers an air tight environment in which to live.

In a typical UK home, expensive, heated air is constantly escaping through wall cavities and many other places giving rise to higher fuel bills and uncomfortable draughts. With the ICF System of construction air leakage is virtually eliminated, instead controlled ventilation is introduced via a centralised air extraction system.

High thermal performance means lower heating bills. Brooklyn House apartments achieve an average SAP rating of 85 combined with an Energy Efficiency rating of B and an Environmental Impact rating of B.

The apartments also include gas fired, underfloor heating further reducing unwanted draughts. Domestic hot water and under floor heating are provided by high performance condensing combi boiler with integrated pressurised hot water storage. In addition the ICF System offers a monolithic structure that provides exceptional sound insulation from airborne sources.
